Beer lovers have found the world’s cheapest lager, costing an incredible 10p a pint (or, 20 cents for 568ml, if you like). Trouble is, you have to get to Mogadishu in war torn Somalia to get it.
A new website called pintprice.com collects info from drinkers around the world and makes an online database of World Beer Prices. The price is set by the visitors and uses the average price of all entries for a particular country.
The average price for each city submitted is also shown.
Other beery bargains include Ethiopia (20p a pint), Myanmar (31p) and Rwanda (32p), although stag parties will find little else on offer in communist North Korea (32p).
At the other end of the scale, Norway’s bars are most expensive at an £5.89 a pint, closely followed by Greenland at £5.01 and Guadaloupe at £4.80.
A pint of lager in Britain costs an average £2.45, says the website, whereas in the states this is £1.94 ($3.86).
Useful when planning a holiday, PintPrice.com has also been described as an important economic indicator......
